I. Product Overview
1. Introdution
Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Reunion Festival, is a time for families to gather around the dinner table, sharing stories and enjoying mooncakes. The moment the whole family comes together to open this box: everyone can savor the cakes, drink tea, admire the moon, and watch puppet shows, creating a joyful and happy atmosphere.
Water puppetry originated alongside the rice farming civilization but was formed and developed during the Ly Dynasty (1010 - 1225). Over time, this art form was passed down through generations, gradually becoming a refined pastime for the Vietnamese people during festivals.
2. Goals And Mission
A) Goals
Cultural preservation: Contributing to the preservation and promotion of the traditional cultural values of water puppetry during the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Encouraging creativity: Creating unique mooncake products that blend traditional flavors with the imagery of water puppetry.
Enhancing the experience: Providing consumers with enjoyable and meaningful culinary experiences in the festive atmosphere.
B) Mission
Cultural education: Introducing and disseminating knowledge about water puppetry to the younger generation through mooncake products.
Community connection: Creating opportunities for people to come together to enjoy and learn about the values of folk culture.
Product quality: Ensuring that mooncakes are not only delicious but also safe, made with natural ingredients, reflecting a respect for consumer health.
II. Product Packaging
1. Advantages
The uniquely shaped rectangular box, made entirely from paper, contributes to environmental protection and reduces design costs. The floral patterns provide a striking visual that embodies Vietnamese culture while maintaining a sense of elegance and nostalgia.
2. Disadvantages
Limited design appeal: The imagery and colors may not attract everyone, especially those unfamiliar with water puppetry culture.
3. Decorative Elements
The box features a design reminiscent of a house from the Ly Dynasty. On the outside, intricate patterns depict dragons carrying children with lanterns for the Mid-Autumn Festival, creating a friendly and welcoming scene. Inside, the cake tray mimics a water puppetry stage, featuring four distinct puppets dressed in traditional Vietnamese attire: the Moon Goddess (Chị Hằng Nga), Cuội, the Jade Rabbit (thỏ ngọc), and a water dragon. Each character showcases vibrant colors, making a strong impression on consumers.
4. Upcycle
A) Pen Tray - Holder
The cake tray consists of four boxes. After enjoying the mooncakes inside the first box, it can be repurposed as a pen holder or placed back into the tray to serve as a pen organizer.
B) Puppet
Each first-level mooncake box features a puppet design, allowing users to cut out the character or leave it intact to manipulate it on the stage for performances of their own creation.
C) Lantern
The second-level box features hollowed-out sections. When placing a light or candle inside, it can serve as a lantern or a nightlight.
D) Decor
The overall exterior and interior of the box feature distinctive patterns from the Ly Dynasty and water puppetry art, making it suitable as a decorative item that promotes the history and culture of Vietnam to those around.
