The "Remote Case" is designed and developed based on the pain points of seniors with remote controls. The common issue is that the remote has a lot of buttons that can make them confused. Buttons and symbols are very tiny for them. It is difficult to see clearly, and sometimes they press the wrong buttons or do not understand the symbols, so they need assistance from others. Some people also try to solve this problem by using tape or paper to cover unused buttons.

We have researched 30 seniors and found that most of them use only four functions of a remote control: the power on/off button, volume up/down button, channel change button, and left/right scroll button. Therefore, we designed the packaging to be more useful by making it like a case for the remote control and concealing all buttons that are rarely used to make it clearer and easier to see.

In terms of packaging and usability, we considered the issue of muscle weakness in seniors. It may be difficult for them to handle objects with square edges or heavy weights. Therefore, we designed the case with rounded edges to make it more comfortable to hold and easier to grip. The remote case can be used by pressing the finger down along the perforated line of the button on the packaging. Then a button will be pressed on the buttons of the remote control inside. This helps reduce muscle effort. The material is fluted paper. It is light weight and thin with a beautiful pattern design. In addition, any brand can adapt this packaging to their remote control for an inexpensive price.

This remote case can improve the quality of life for seniors. Choose your favourite style, easy to use, good for seniors, and importantly, reduce waste by not discarding the packaging.
