Starting Point for Packaging Development
Research has shown that using foam boxes for seafood presents risks of mold and bacterial growth due to the rough surface of foam, which is difficult to clean and contains toxic chemicals. Additionally, foam boxes pose health risks and environmental issues. Therefore, we are interested in developing a cold storage packaging solution that maintains the quality of seafood and environmentally friendly.
" Lung-Lay "
Our cold storage packaging is designed for convenience, without adverse health effects, and is environmentally friendly. The packaging is designed for ease of use, featuring handles, drainage holes at the bottom of the box, easy cleaning, and the ability to retain cold for over 48 hours.
Packaging Design under the 3R Principle
- Reduce : Minimize the use of foam by replacing it with kraft paper and recycled plastic.
- Reuse : The packaging can be reused, and the materials used are from recycled sources.
- Recycle : Kraft paper and recycled HDPE plastic are used to create the cold storage box.
We use recycled kraft paper to maintain cold inside the box and recycled HDPE plastic to enhance the box's durability, making it resistant to the saltiness of seafood and easy to maintain. The plastic lining inside the packaging prevents moisture from the food from reaching the kraft paper layer, while the outer plastic layer protects against external moisture, thus maintaining cold for an extended period.
The Packaging Consists of Three Layers
1) 2 mm thick HDPE plastic
2) 4 cm thick corrugated kraft paper
3) 2 mm thick HDPE plastic
The base of the box has an additional layer of 5 cm thick corrugated kraft paper to support the weight of the contents and enhance cold retention at the base.
Usage Instructions
This cold storage box can retain cold for over 48 hours and is designed for easy carrying, cleaning, and features a drain hole with an open-close function at the bottom of the box to release water from melted ice inside.
Reason for Using Kraft Paper
According to Ranpak (USA), which manufactures cold storage packaging from kraft paper, their packaging can retain cold for up to 48 hours.
Key Features
- Drainage hole at the base of the box
- Convenient carrying handles
- Cold retention for over 48 hours
