In general, bottle openers commonly found in the market are typically made of metal due to its strength and durability compared to plastic. However, with advancements in innovation and technology, plastics can now be developed to be stronger and more durable, allowing them to replace metal materials. These plastics offer advantages such as being lightweight, durable, and customizable in terms of color, with various functional uses.
The plastic chosen by our team is PET( Poly (ethylene terephthalate)), which is known for its high density, strength, and resistance to breakage. This type of plastic is easily accessible as it is commonly used in bottle caps that we frequently encounter in everyday life. The design of this product adds value to discarded plastic bottle caps through waste sorting, following the principles of upcycling from recycled materials, resulting in lower production costs.
Our team designed the bottle opener using SOLIDWORKS software to achieve the desired shape. Through simulation testing, we found that the selected plastic is durable and can withstand the applied forces
