In today's world, common products like soap, shampoo, and conditioner often come in large packaging because they are primarily used at home, such as in houses or condos. This can make it inconvenient to carry them when going out, leading some people to forget certain items or feel like they are wasting space when going on short trips. These problems have inspired us to create all-in-one packaging.

Marketing Plan

Target Audience

General consumers, including students going to camps, college students participating in off-site activities, or individuals looking to travel or take short trips. This also includes those who want to save space in their bags.

Purpose of the Packaging

  1. To save storage space for short trips.
  2. To use materials as efficiently as possible.
  3. To provide convenience for those who do not have all their gear.
  4. To allow easy purchase at convenience stores without the need to buy multiple items, which can be costly.
  5. To be reusable.

Brand Development Goals

To make general consumers aware of basic materials knowledge, such as proper waste disposal and recycling methods, which will be indicated on the packaging labels. Additionally, to raise awareness about the importance of utilizing materials effectively, as this packaging will maximize the usefulness of all its components, whether as convenient travel items or as toys.

Design

The packaging will have a slightly opaque, not fully transparent color, allowing visibility of the contents. It will also include a sturdy paper label for display in convenience stores, containing general information such as production date, manufacturing location, and product quantity.

The design is inspired by LEGO, as the packaging can hold shampoo and other products, but the components can also be separated for other uses, like storing pencils and erasers. This design promotes reuse and saves space, as all pieces can be detached and reattached. For minimal packing needs, items like a toothbrush and toothpaste can be easily removed.

Marketing Activities and Brand Development

Create special designs for various festivals or allow customers to participate in designing colors and patterns. Additionally, offer various colors that consumers can choose and assemble together, and encourage repurposing the boxes for items like rings, necklaces, pencils, and rulers. If no longer needed, these can also be donated for children's developmental play. The variety of functions and the ability to group items will enhance the relationship between the packaging and the user.

Social and Environmental Packaging Design

Besides the convenience and material efficiency of the design, we plan to use Bio-PE (Bio-based Polyethylene) for this packaging. Bio-PE has a chemical structure similar to PE (Polyethylene) and similar functionality, but comes from different sources, which impacts sustainability and environmental effects.

PE is produced from petroleum and natural gas, which are non-renewable fossil resources. Traditional PE production results in significant greenhouse gas emissions due to its high carbon source materials. Conversely, Bio-PE is derived from renewable resources like sugarcane and corn, which sequester carbon during their growth, thus producing lower greenhouse gas emissions.

Furthermore, Bio-PE and PE share the same molecular structure, meaning that Bio-PE possesses the same physical properties, such as flexibility, strength, and water resistance. This similarity allows it to be used in the same industries, including packaging, plastic bags, and containers. Both Bio-PE and PE are not biodegradable due to their stable chemical structure, so they can persist in the environment if not disposed of correctly. However, both can be recycled within the existing PE recycling systems without needing separation.

Regarding environmental impact, traditional PE production leads to fossil resource depletion and greenhouse gas emissions, negatively affecting the environment. In contrast, Bio-PE helps reduce these emissions because it is sourced from renewable materials. While the production of Bio-PE results in lower emissions than traditional PE, it still shares challenges with plastic waste disposal. Therefore, Bio-PE should be disposed of in recycling bins for plastics (similar to petroleum-based PE), ensuring cleanliness and compression before disposal for effective recycling.

Business Environment Analysis

Strengths: Design versatility can be expanded with new colors and patterns, generating consumer interest. The product’s diverse functionality and material durability also add to its appeal.

Weaknesses: The inability to customize internal products may lead to varied consumer preferences, and potential allergic reactions to certain ingredients.

Opportunities: With a growing preference for convenience among travelers, our packaging meets this need well. Its portability and diverse functionalities appeal to both children, who seek enjoyment, and adults, who desire convenience.

Risks: The current prevalence of various viruses may deter some people from traveling, making large pack purchases more cost-effective than smaller, trip-ready sets.

Marketing Effectiveness Measurement

  1. Advertising campaigns.
  2. QR codes for stress-relief games and tracking brand engagement.
  3. Engaging customers in the design process through activities and measuring their interest and reach.
