Coming to the SCGP Packaging Design Challenge Vietnam 2023 design competition; first of all, our DD&L team would like to send a respectful greeting to the contest organizers. Our group includes three members: Luong Tri Dung, Kieu Hong Duong and Nguyen Thi Truc Linh; and the name of each member is also the reason that we decided to take the name DD&L as a simple reminder about the number of members as well as a name of each member of the group. We are currently second-year student in the Department of Graphic Arts and Media, majoring in Printing Technology at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education. As students majoring in Printing Technology, we always want to improve and learn new things related to fields in the industry, and for that reason we researched and registered together to participate in this competition. We believe this will be a great opportunity for us to develop many aspects of ourselves in the future.

DD&L's main product is packaging for granola bars - a food originating from Europe, healthy and rich in nutrients. GRAHOME is the brand name that we decided to name this product, with "GRA" being the abbreviation of the word "Granola", the name GRAHOME was created by us with the main meaning of "Granola House", where people can connect together by their passionate about granola and bring people closer to the food market that is fast, clean, convenient and contains high nutritional content. . The slogan “Think GRAHOME. Think positive" that we set also contributes to achieving the criteria when implementing the product "Think GRAHOME, think positive things". Society is increasingly developing, but there is also more pressure created from it, and people are often stuck in the negative society that was created by them. Here, we want to bring positive things to customers in both material and spiritual life. When experiencing shopping at GRAHOME, customers will receive dedicated advice about the different types of granola that are most suitable and best.

Our team's orientation in this contest is create a convenient packaging product that has many uses and easily approach to customers. By using materials that do not harm or pollute the environment, minimize the amount of waste, and appeal to the psychology of users, we choose packaging made from paper. However, this type of packaging will not affect product development such as being torn or unstable like another paper materials we have seen. In addition to the selected paper material, GRAHOME's packaging will have its main color chosen, which will be light brown (wheat color - according to the RGB color system). It can be seen that this color is similar to the color of the kraft paper. Light brown not only represents the warmth of summer, but also shows the close-up environment. Besides, with nutritious foods like granola, decided to use the Light Brown as the main color, we want to give customers an association with one of the main ingredients to create granola is wheat.

The attraction of the products in our group is also based on the graphic images on the outside of the packaging. Just like in fashion, the trend of the beauty is always updated and refreshed. We have researched and known that the trend of customers, specifically generation Z, is always aiming for and less likely to become outdated, which is Minimalism. According to that, we designed GRAHOME with simple graphics but still ensuring all the criteria that a product packaging should have. Specifically, with the outer packaging, we depict the product name and the message we want to send to customers. The packaging also has ingredient lists of basic ingredients to make a product and by drawing some types of granola bars on the bottom of the box can help users figure to granola bars.

When the finished product reaches the customer, it only includes a box without outer packaging. With the main criterion of "Think Positive", GRAHOME wants to approach customers in the most positive and practical way by ensuring that the outer product packaging can fully integrate the main functions of preservation, high aestheticism, easy to carry and can be used as a gift on important occasions. The outer product packaging is designed in a box with a small handle on top for convenient carrying. The front of the box has a frame window to help users to see the product inside. At the top of the box lid, we also designed a small frame, when using, just tear off the frame to easily take without having to open the whole product. Because the outer box is made of paper, it is sometimes unavoidable that if the box is damaged, the product inside will be affected. Therefore, the bars inside will be wrapped in a waterproof packaging. Choosing a granola product for us was a big challenge because in Vietnam this product is not really popular and has a high price. But the granola market will not stop, this fast, convenient and nutritious food is always the leading choice in the clean eating trend, especially for young people. Along with positive directions, DD&L wants to reach more people with this healthy food market, promote purchases with GRAHOME and promote new, convenient, and environmentally protective packaging trends.
